June 11, 2008 (Sawf News) - He is one of the finest directors in Bollywood, having directed three of the industry's slickest movies - Dil Chahata Hai, Lakshaya and Don - Farhan Akhtar, is now set to 'Rock On' as an actor and singer.
Mediocrity is not what you associate Farhan with, whatever be the role he is playing, so it is not surprising that the theatrical trailer of Rock On, now playing in India and worldwide, is wowing viewers, just as Dil Chahata Hai did.
The fact that the theatrical trailer was released at Cannes International Film Festival in May, is a measure of the confidence of the Rock On team.

The film revolves around 4 young boys who put together the greatest band this country had ever seen but never make it. Ten years hence fate conspires to bring them together again and set them on a journey back to where they left off. They then embark on a soul searching pilgrimage into their past.
Top lining the cast are Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal and Prachi Desai (Bani of TV serial Kasamh Se), who plays Farhan's love interest. .
Farhan has sung five songs in the film directed by Abhishek (Gattu) Kapoor, for which music has been composed by the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio.
"It's mainly rock sounds in Hindi. Whoever has heard them, loves them. Fortunately, I had this amazingly talented composer called Shankar Mahadevan standing on the other side of the glass partition when I recorded my songs. He is an extremely talented singer. He wouldn't allow me to sing wrongly nor would he say, 'Oh-ho sounding great' when it was not. The minute Shankar was happy I knew I was fine," Farhan told HT in an interview last month.

Talking about his co-star Prachi, Farhan said, "She is very sincere. She's a big TV star, but willing to learn on the new medium. Very focused about what she does. I think Gattu cast her really well. I watched the film's first cut and Prachi's character works superbly."
Farhan has already wrapped up filming for Rock On and has since moved on to the set of his second film as an actor, Lucky By Chance, which is being directed by his sister Zoya Akhtar.
