September 11, 2008 (Sawf News) - Responding to a Sawf News comment that Robert De Niro had expressed a desire to see his performance in Sarkar Raj, Amitabh Bachchan told us he felt "very privileged that someone of [De Niro's] caliber" had expressed interest in his work.

Amitabh Bachchan worked as 'Godfather' in Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar (2005) and its sequel Sarkar Raj (2008). His son, Abhishek Bachchan, co-starred in both the films and daughter in law featured in Sarkar Raj.

Di Niro played the lead role in The Godfather: Part II (1974).

Robert De Niro, who stars with Al Pacino in Righteous Kill, which releases in theatres worldwide and India tomorrow, was recently asked at a press event if he had seen the unofficial Indian Godfather remake which stars the most popular actor of the world - Amitabh Bachchan.

An intrigued Di Niro reportedly asked for a DVD of Sarkar Raj.

Sawf News asked Bachchan what he felt about De Niro wanting to see his work.

"Well, I was not aware of it myself till you told me," he said. "I feel very privileged that someone of his caliber said something of that sort. Well, it is good if he wants to see the film. I am an admirer myself of both Robert De Niro as well as of Al Pacino."

So will he be catching the Hollywood legends on screen, even as De Niro takes time to watch the Bachchan clan on DVD?

"Why not? If I get some leisure time from my busy schedule I will surely watch the movie. It will be interesting to see them act together after a long time," says Bachchan.

Robert De Niro and Al Pacino have earlier featured together in The Godfather: Part II (1974) and Heat (1995).

Righteous Kill in fact is the Hollywood version of encounter killings. Bachchan has done similar roles in films like Khakee and Dev.
