He earlier starred in Bhushan Kumar produced Lucky: No Time for Love (2005).
The as yet untitled film, projected to be a musical with a difference, will be produced under the T Series banner and go on the floors in August 2009.
Salman and Bhushan go back a long time. T-Series in the past acquired the musical rights for Salman films such as Pyar Kiya to Darna Kya, Partner, Tere Naam, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, besides Lucky: No Time for Love (2005).
"Our relationship with Salman Khan goes back a long time. We have always shared a great relationship and this film just adds on to that," says Bhushan Kumar who is looking forward to the Salman film making waves in the musical market yet again.
Says Salman, "I went in for the film because I share a long, fruitful relationship with T Series."
