Mohanlal, 50, has earlier featured in Bollywood films such as Priyadarshan's Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar (2001), Ram Gopal Varma's Company (2002), Aag (2007) and Rajkumar Santoshi's Halla Bol (2008).
Vishal Bhardwaj is on a look out for the six remaining male actors who will be wedded to Priyanka in the film. There were reports that Hrithik Roshan is likely to be the lead with Priyanka but there is no word yet from the Bhardwaj camp.
Filming is scheduled to begin in March 2010.
Vishal Bhardwaj and Priyanka Chopra last teamed up for Kaminey (2009) in which Priyanka and co-star Shahid Kapoor received rave reviews.
Priyanka Chopra is awaiting start of production of Siddharth Anand's Anjaana Anjaani with co-star Ranbir Kapoor.
The film - to be shot in Bangkok, New York, San Jose, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Mumbai - will begin on December 11 and end on December 31!
