November 19, 2009, (Sawf News) - Keen to work with Ranbir Kapoor, after watching him in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, David Dhawan offered him a role in Chashme Buddoor (1981) remake, but Ranbir Kapoor flatly refused.
Dhawan wanted Ranbir to play Farooque Shaikh's character from the original.
"Ranbir who has seen the original, told the director that he'd loved the film but he didn't want to be part of this remake. He doesn't want to be part of any remakes," a source told Mid-Day.
Studio 18 has had the film's rights for the last two years. To begin with they were in talks with Onir to direct the remake but things did not work out. They then approached Dhawan.
Dhawan is now on a look out for a suitable male lead for the film.
Ranbir is currently filming for Sajid Nadiadwala production and Siddharth Anand helmed/penned Anjaana Anjaani with co-star Priyanka Chopra.
