Katie Holmes rose to fame playing Joey Potter in the teen favorite TV series Dawson's Creek (1998-2003), which focused on four friends in a small coastal town who help each other cope with adolescence. With her guest appearance on Eli Stone, she will be returning to her roots working on an episode to be executive produced by Greg Berlanti, who earlier produced four episodes of Dawson's Creek.
"We wanted to do anything we could to get people talking about the show. I went and begged her," Berlanti said of Holmes. "She said 'I'd love to.'"

Berlanti wouldn't explain how, saying "…we want to keep an element of mystery for the audience."
Katie Holmes is set to make her Broadway debut this fall in Arthur Miller's All My Sons. She'll appear six nights a week alongside John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest, and Patrick Wilson.
