August 8, 2008 (Sawf News) - Hannah Montanna star Miley Cyrus, the richest and most famous teenager in the world, earned her first MTV Video Music Award nomination in the category Best New Artist.
Other nominees in the category are Katy Perry, Jordin Sparks, Taylor Swift and German rock band Tokio Hotel.
Katy Perry was earlier nominated in Best Female Video category for her clip I Kissed a Girl, and Tokio Hotel are competing for Best Pop Video with Ready, Set, Go!.
Madonna's clip for 4 Minutes earned her a nomination for Best Dancing in a Video. She will compete against Ne-Yo (Closer), Chris Brown (Forever), Danity Kane (Damaged) and Pussycat Dolls (When I Grow Up).

Girl group Danity Kane's Damaged was nominated in the Best Pop Video category last week.
MTV's Video Music Awards 2008 will air live from the legendary Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood on September 7 at 9 pm. They will be hosted by British comedian Russell Brand and include performances by nominees Lil Wayne and the Jonas Brothers.
It will the first MTV Video Music Awards appearance for the Jonas Brothers who are competing for the Moonman for Best Pop Video. The sibling rockers will debut their second single from their new album A Little Bit Longer which drops on Tuesday, August 12.
