September 17, 2008 (Sawf News) - Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus will feature in an author backed role in a new untitled Disney film based on a novel and its screen adaptation being written by Nicholas Sparks.
The film will be produced by Disney-based Offspring Entertainment partners Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot, reports Variety.
Miley's momager Tish Cyrus will be the executive producer.
Past films with screenplays adapted from Sparks' novels include The Notebook (2004), A Walk to Remember (2002) and Message in a Bottle (1999).
The upcoming film Nights in Rodanthe, starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane, is also based on a novel by Sparks.
The novel for the Miley film will be published in fall 2009 by Grand Central Publishing.
"This is similar to the way it's gone with movies based on my novels; it's just out of order," Sparks said. "Certain opportunities garner your interest, and this was one of those."
Interestingly, Cyrus will only act, not sing in the film, a family drama with romance.
