Advance box office collections for the first theatrical release of the Disney franchise have exceeded those for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the record holder so far, reports Telegraph.
Thousands of excited fans attended the London premiere of HSM 3 in Leicester Square, on Tuesday, October 6, with some of them turning up as early as 4 am to get a vantage spot next to the red carpet to get an up close look at their idols.
The success of High School Musical in 2006 caught even Disney executives by surprise. The film has been watched by 250 million viewers world wide since then. In High School Musical 3, Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) and Gabriella Montez are high school seniors confronted with the prospect of charting their own individual courses after graduating from East High.
The two lovers team up with their Wildcat friends, including Sharpay Evans (Ashley Tisdale), Ryan Evans (Lucas Grabeel), Chad Danforth (Corbin Bleu), and Taylor McKessie (Monique Coleman) to stage an elaborate spring musical reflecting their experiences, hopes and fears about the future.
