Brown was due to perform, as well as be interviewed, on the show next week, with the announcement made last week.
But Good Morning America dropped the performance from the deal. The shuffling follows public comments by Rihanna that are likely to batter his already savaged image.
Brown is serving a tough probation for the assault of the Umbrella singer, his former girlfriend, and must observe a restraining order to stay away from her. The already taped interview will now run on 20/20.
An ABC spokesman, Jeffrey Schneider, says clips may also air on Good Morning America. The New York Post has reported Brown will "come clean" in the interview with details that have never before been spoken about.
