The first film will be released on November 18, 2011, and the second sometime in 2012, possibly summer or later that year.
It has as yet not been decided whether Breaking Dawn will be filmed in 3-D, or converted to 3-D during the post-production process, a Summit official told MTV news.
Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg is converting the 756-page conclusion of Stephenie Meyer's four-novel vampire thriller into two screenplays.
