November 24, 2009, (Sawf News) - Carrie Underwood exuded elegance and high octane glamor walking the red carpet in a cobalt gown at the 2009 CNN Heroes Awards at The Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on Saturday, November 21.
Her strapless gathered gown had a jeweled belt. She accessorized with silver strappy heels, Swarovski clutch and Johnathon Arndt jewels comprising: diamond and blue sapphire necklace hosting over 38.88 ct. of natural blue sapphires and 19.98 ct. of brilliant white diamonds, valued at $1.2 million, 5.00 ct. diamond bangle bracelet and 3.00 ct. diamond earrings.

The 26-year-old country singer debuted her new shorter hair at the event. Her new bob was styled in bouncy curls with left side pinned down with a barrette creating an asymmetrical effect. She wore peach lip color and matching blush, lilac eyeshadow and thick black eyeliner rounded with multiple coats of black mascara.
She performed during the event along with R&B singer Maxwell and British pop sensation Leona Lewis. Those presenting at the event included Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Pierce Brosnan and George Lopez.
CNN anchor Anderson Cooper hosted the Kodak Theatre ceremony that was attended by about 4,000 people and will air on CNN at 9 p.m. EST Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, and on CNN International and CNN en Espanol.
The awards show was created in 2007 after CNN producers and correspondents talked about meeting many unsung heroes, said Jim Walton, president of CNN Worldwide.
The top 10 CNN Heroes were chosen by a blue-ribbon panel from among the 9,000 viewer nominations. Each of them were honored with a documentary tribute and introduced by a celebrity presenter. Each of the top 10 Heroes received an award of $25,000.
