June 27, 2008 (Sawf News) - A federal judge granted a temporary restraining order Friday, June 27, stopping distribution and online airing of Verne Troyer's sex tape, saying Troyer has "demonstrated that he will suffer irreparable harm to his reputation."
U.S. District Judge Philip Gutierrez also asked TMZ and the others to give their reason why the tape should be on the market, or else face a stricter injunction.
Troyer, 39, filed a $20 million lawsuit Thursday, June 26, in U.S. District Court in downtown L.A., against TMZ, celeb-porn broker Kevin Blatt and online adult-film rental service SugarDVD, claiming violation of privacy and right to publicity, copyright and trademark infringement and misappropriation of name and likeness.
The 2 ft 8 in tall Austin Powers and The Love Guru star claims the 50-minute tape, which is now in the possession of Baltt, was stolen from his home months ago.
TMZ posted a part of the tape on its website, Wednesday, reporting that SugarDVD had offered Blatt $100,000 for the tape. Blatt had earlier been involved in the distribution of Paris Hilton's sex tape.
TMZ has since removed the tape from its site.
The sex tape features Troyer with his 22-year-old live in girlfriend Ranae Shrider, who is an aspiring model.
