Bob, is estranged from his wife and Hilary's mother, Susan Duff. Their divorce has been underway for two-and-a-half-years. Pending a settlement Bob is required to seek court permission before disposing off any assets. He, however, recently sold stock worth $367,537 without informing the court, thus inviting its ire.
Ironically, Bob's arrest was ordered shortly after he was asked to pay $12,500 to Susan for Hilary's 21st birthday.
According to Houston Chronicle, Susan had gone to court seeking $25,000 from Bob to fund a present and party for Hilary's birthday on September 28, the amount that she and Bob had spent when their elder daughter Haylie turned 21 two years ago.
During her testimony, Susan claimed that the $10,000 per month interim support that Bob paid her was "not even enough to pay my own bills" let alone buy gifts and birthday treats befitting her daughter. She said Hilary has been helping her pay the lawyers and other bills.
Bob's arrest and incarceration took Susan by surprise.
"This isn't what I wanted," she gasped and murmured.
As he was led way, Bob said that he wanted to talk to a reporter but couldn't because of a gag order.
"I wish I could," he said. "I've got a lot to say."
