November 18, 2009, (Splash News) - Penelope Cruz ducked David Letterman's question on her rumored engagement to Javier Bardem.
The 35-year-old actress appeared as a guest on the Late Show when the host asked point-blank if the pair were going to walk down the aisle soon.
She said, laughing: "I don't feel comfortable talking about my private life in public."
Letterman pushed her further, prompting Cruz to say: "I've been here a few times with you, you know I'm tough. One thing I don't do, I don't like talking about my personal life."
She continued: "It's sacred to me. It's my life. But I don't give details about it because I am allergic to that."
Letterman finally asked: "So you know, but you don't want to tell me?"
Cruz responded, giggling: "I know, but I choose not to share some things!"
Rumors were rife that Cruz and Bardem, 40, were engaged after the Spanish star was spotted wearing a sapphire and diamond sparkler on her ring finger at the premiere of new movie Broken Embraces in October.
