November 30, 2009, (Sawf News) - Law enforcement authorities are seeking a search warrant to access medical records at the hospital that treated Tiger Woods, to determine the cause of his accident on Friday morning, November 27.
According to TMZ, Cops want to determine whether Woods' injuries are consistent with the nature of the accident, or were perhaps caused by domestic violence.
Frustrated by Woods' refusal to talk to them, Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is seeking the warrant on the basis that a crime may have been involved in the accident.
In support of their contention, they could either cite inconsistencies in Wood's wife Elin Nordegren's statements, or the golfer's admission to a friend on Friday that he was taking pain medication; Woods was unconscious immediately following the accident so there is a case for DUI.
As to Nordegren's inconsistencies, she initially told Windemere cops that she heard a crash, went out and saw that Woods was injured and trapped in his Escalade, returned home to fetch a golf club, went back to the SUV and used the club to smash its rear window and extricate Woods.
She later told the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) that she went looking for Woods in a golf cart and on seeing the crash used a golf club to break open the window.
Following the accident, Woods told a friend that Nordegren confronted him with reports of his dalliance with party hostess Rachel Uchitel, a heated argument ensued during the course of which she attacked him and scratched his face. Woods then decided to leave the house. As he was driving away, Nordegren ran after him with a golf club that she used to repeatedly strike his SUV with as it pulled away. A distracted Woods then looked back, not realizing the vehicle was still moving forward; he struck a fire hydrant and then a tree in front of his neighbor's property.
