The 34-year-old comic recently confirmed to a newspaper that he had proposed to his girlfriend Perry, 25.
It is claimed he proposed to the I Kissed A Girl singer at the luxurious Taj Rambagh Palace hotel in India.
He has reportedly asked his manager Nik Linnen to be his best man.
A source said: "Russell caught everyone off-guard with the engagement.
"They've decided they won't be messing about and have already made a start on the plans for the big day."
