February 16, 2012, (Sawf News) - Demi Lovato is not in rehab but has taken a week off to focus on her recovery, sources tell MTV News.

MTV News quizzed Demi's rep over reports that the singer is in rehab, triggered by her absence from the recent Grammy Awards.

"She's not in rehab," the rep said. "She was not supposed to present at the Grammys."

Last week Demi tweeted, "Away on a mind and body cleansing retreat!! This is exciting. Won't be tweeting much this week but I love you my sweet lovatics!"

Explaining the tweet, a source tells MTV News, "Demi had a week off between work commitments and made the personal decision to spend the week with the professional support team she assembled to help her with her ongoing physical and emotional issues.

"The trip was previously planned. Demi's recovery is an ongoing battle. She understands that there will be ups and downs, but is fully committed to working with her team every single day towards a healthy future."

In October 2010, Lovato quit the Jonas Brothers tour and checked into a treatment center to deal with "emotional and physical issues" that included an eating disorder and self-injury.

Demi Lovato returned to Los Angeles after three months treatment at a medical facility in Illinois.

Following her rehab she made a remarkable professional comeback with the release of her third studio album Unbroken in September 2011.

The Album's lead single, Skyscraper, released on July 12, 2011, debuted and peaked at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100, and went on to become Lovato's best-selling single to date.

Lovato now readily discusses her past struggles with personal issues over Twitter and has become a rallying point and inspiration for other young people battling disorders similar to her's.

In January, she signed off Twitter several days after posting a rant against God on the social networking site. Later in the month there was a report that she had entered rehab, but her rep dismissed the report saying "It is a crock of s–t."
