October 12, 2009, (Sawf News) - Zerona, a non invasive body contouring procedure, is gaining acceptance as an alternative to liposuction for removing excessive fat from the body.
The procedure, which is in the process of being approved by FDA, uses low-level "cool touch" laser technology developed by Erchona to emulsify subcutaneous fat which is then removed by the body's normal waste management system.
It is best suited for people who have small but hard to get rid of pockets of fat on their body.
Zerona is claimed to be safe for all skin types and costs significantly lesser than liposuction and other surgical body sculpting procedures, though it requires multiple sittings.
Treatments are completely painless and involve no downtime. Six 40 minute treatments are needed for the initial protocol, and each treatment is scheduled 24-72 hours apart. The treatment costs between $2,800 – $4,000.
Patients can lose over 3.5" from the treatment.
During a treatment, each side of the body is treated for 20 minutes while the patient comfortably relaxes in a prone position. Patients are also asked to take the recommended supplements to aid the process of fat loss.
Skin Physicians & Surgeons (SkinPS) in Upland, is one of the growing number of clinics offering Zerona treatment.
Sandra Lee, M.D., one of three board certified dermatologists at SkinPS, explains that the cost of liposuction vs. the cost of Zerona is clearly in Zerona's favor.
"People really see that this is a cost benefit to them," she said.
