November 11, 2009, (Sawf News) - Google has slashed online storage prices on Picasa, making a direct upload from your SD card to the cloud the most sensible and hassle free option.
Picasa users can now lease 20GB for $5 a year, a four fold drop from the $20 earlier. That's enough space for 10,000 full resolution pictures taken with a 5 megapixel camera.
While 20GB will suffice for most users, photo enthusiasts can avail of other plans ranging upto 16TB, enough for 8 million full resolution photos.
"Google paid storage comes with an extra level of security, protection and accessibility that you can't get with an external drive — at a similar cost per gigabyte," says Software Engineer Elvin Lee in a post on the Google blog.
