SINGAPORE (AFP) - Visitors from Indonesia, China, Australia, the United Kingdom and Malaysia accounted for 49 percent of the arrivals for the month, the Singapore Tourism Board said.
Indonesia was the biggest source of visitors with 125,000 travelers arriving last month, followed by China with 121,000, Australia with 52,000, the UK with 51,000 and Malaysia with 50,000.
Singapore's long-term target is to attract 17 million visitors generating 30 billion Singapore dollars (22 billion US) in receipts by 2015.
The tiny but affluent city-state is building new attractions, including two casino resorts, expected to open by 2010, and is trying to become an arts and entertainment cente.
It will host the first ever Formula One Grand Prix night race this September and the inaugural Youth Olympics in 2010.
