They make the most unlikely comic pair. While one stands out as the discerning moviegoer's hero, inclined to do artsy films like Kalpurush, his female counterpart exudes a heady sex appeal that drives male audiences "nuts"! Come Friday, and we will get to see Rahul Bose, 39 starring opposite very very sexy Mallika Sherawat, 25, in Saket Choudhatry’s Pyar Ke Side Effects.
But lets not get ahead of ourselves because cinema buffs will get to see a re-invented Mallika Sherawat, all clothed and demure, in this romantic comedy where she is paired opposite Rahul Bose, a Disc Jockey who loves his music and does not believe in marriage as an institution.
Trisha (Mallika) wants to win over paramour Sid (Rahul) but things get complicated when she proposes marriage. What does not help matter is the fact that Trisha’s father, a retired General who can’t stand the sight of Sid! How the matter of the heart gets resolved is what the film is all about.
After a long and self-imposed lay-off, Sherawat hopes to reignite her charms and woo her fans, this time in a different avatar. It may be recalled that she became a rage after she flaunted her ample curves and planted 17 passionate kisses in Khwahish (2003). Later that year, she starred in Murder another male libido stirring film that seems to have ingrained her as just a smoldering sex symbol in the minds of Indian audiences.

This time around co-star Bose is confident that Sherawat has come good as an actor. He told CNN-IBN on Tuesday, “Mallika's comic timing and her dedication took me by surprise. People may look on us as an odd couple. But it's finally the oddness that's going to work in the film's favor."
Sherawat was last seen in a small role in a Jackie Chan film, The Myth. She will next be seen in Rising Star Entertainments comedy film Fauj Mein Mauj slated for release on 12 Jan 2007 along with Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav.
Pyar Ke Side Effects is produced by Pritish Nandy Communications Ltd. Well, the music by Pritam is already making waves. The fate of the movie at the Box Office will largely depend on on-screen magic that Bose and Sherawat manage to conjure up!
