Karishma Kapoor and her husband of two years, Sanjay Kapur during their ‘bidai’ ceremony after their marriage in Mumbai in her grandmother Krishna Raj Kapoor’s bungalow. Exactly two years down the line, their marriage is on the rocks.
Mumbai: Aug 12, 2005/Sawf News Service/ --August has not begun well for the Kapoor Khandaan. Karishma, who came from her husband Sanjay Kapur’s home in Delhi in March 2005 for her delivery, has received a Delhi High Court notice, which forbids her from taking her four-month-old daughter Samaira out of the country. Media reports say that Karishma was planning to travel to the United States with her baby to participate in the Independence Day parade of India in New York. However, when Sanjay got wind of her plans he appealed to the courts to stop her from taking the child out of the country because he is the joint guardian of Samaira. The news, which spread like wild fire, created a media storm because it was widely known that Karishma and her husband have been having differences and their marriage has been weathering rough weather for some time now.
Bollywood insiders say that Karishma was an outsider in Delhi and did not like living there. Her career awaited her and she wanted to restart in Mumbai. Sanjay, on the other hand, has his business in Delhi and has been brought up in the capital of India. He was unwilling to change his residence. The result was that when Karishma came to deliver her baby in Mumbai, she never went back. It is rumoured that Sanjay was a night-bird and had several women friends, which also irritated Karishma. Now the media awaits the hearing on August 12, when Karishma, the Regional Passport Office, Mumbai and the Ministry of External Affairs will answer the court’s notice as to how the passport was issued to infant Samaira without her father’s concurrence!
