Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi in Lage Raho Munnabhai

Despite losing to the super hit movie Rang De Basanti for being the Indian film for Oscar nomination, the recently released Sanjay Dutt-Arshad Warsi starrer Lage Raho Munnabhai is already a major hit among youngsters, especially, in Lucknow.

Influenced by the Lage Raho Munna Bhai, a film narrating Gandhian way of leading a life, budding doctors of the King George Medical College performed a "Shram Daan" or, voluntary work. They planted several tree saplings.

The medicos say that they have been inspired by the term "Gandhigiri" or, Gandhian way of life as showcased in the film. These medical students feel that in this modern world, it is possible to adapt Gandhian philosophy.

"The word Gandhigiri, used in the film Lage Raho Munnabhai, has made everyone feel that the word can help in motivating people in today's world. Today, these students have done voluntary service in planting trees. By doing this, they are motivating people to conserve nature which is bound to benefit public health," said Dr. P K Gupta, senior doctor, King George Medical College and Hospital.

The students planted saplings and watered all of them.

"We are watering the plants and taking care of them," said Deepak Yadav, a medical student.

The hit film Lage Raho Munnabhai has showcased how "Munnabhai" (Sanjay Dutt) and his friend 'Circuit' (Arshad Warsi) get inspired by Gandhian principles. Both friends try to prove how it is still possible to handle challenges of life by following Gandhian philosophy. (ANI)
