Washington, Sept 29: Imagine the king of mush Karan Johar’s Kabhi Alvida na Kehna appealing to the stiff British upper lip, more than the award winning flick Vera Drake.
Latest Box Office reports have revealed that Bollywood flicks are now making more money than home grown productions.
Kabhi Alvida na Kehna has already grossed more than two million since its UK release five weeks ago (AUG06) - beating British films such as Vera Drake.
Sixty nine Bollywood films have already been released this year (06), with 14 productions now financed in the UK, and are regularly shown at the country's top three multiplex chains - Odeon, Vue Cinema and Cineworld.
"It's a recent development. Bollywood is not just a specialist cinema anymore," a spokesperson for Nielsen EDI, which measures box office performances was quoted by Contactmusic, as saying. (ANI)
