Rohtak, Oct. 2 : With the popularity of Bollywood's musical chartbusters growing rapidly among youngsters and many of them found using the same lingo in everyday life, the organizers of many Ramlila committees in Rohtak are using them to draw maximum crowds.

This novel trend of using Bollywood musical hits has become fashionable.

According to Gopiram, the head of the Ramlila committee, the public has appreciated the use of dialogues and lyric.

"The Ramlila play has been presented to the tune of filmy songs for the last 25-30 years. Bollywood music has been used in between various stages of Ramlila. It is not objectionable because no obscene word is used. The lyrics are based on religious thoughts. This is a good tradition. It is being carried out since our forefathers had migrated from Pakistan," said Gopiram, Chairman, Ramlila Committee.

Even if this novel trend is creating consternation among the old school, people coming from lower strata of society are still appreciating it.

People in Rohtak are enjoying a new version of the traditional Ramlila being staged with a blend of various popular Bollywood songs ranging from old melodies to the latest item numbers.

Bollywood item numbers and fold dances are often presented during the brief interval between two scenes.

Recently, there have been reports in media about many cabaret dancers giving provocative stage performances during religious occasions like Janmashtami, or Ramlilas. But for the general public, this free of cost enjoyment is unparalleled to any other form of enjoyment.

Earlier, Ramlilas were visited by families to educate kids about King Rama's idealism. But with the passage of time, this kind of sermonic lessons have taken a backseat. (ANI)
