Karishma Kapoor and husband Sanjay Kapur are headed for a divorce.

With one more Bollywood marriage – between Karishma Kapoor and Sanjay Kapur –hitting the dirt pile of disaster, marriages in the film industry have come under the media harsh scanner. Karishma has filed her affidavit in the Delhi High Court stating that her husband ‘constructively deserted’ her soon after the marriage and has not financially contributed with time or money for the support of his wife or daughter Samaira since her birth five months ago in Mumbai. Whatever the outcome of this case, it is now sure that the Kapoor-Kapur marriage is ending on the rocks of divorce.

In recent weeks, Aamir Khan’s marriage, which ended some while ago, has been in the news with photos of his ex-girlfriend Jessica Hines and her love baby Jaan (allegedly fathered by Aamir Khan) appearing in Indian gossip magazines. Jessica, since then, has given a statement that she neither gave the interview nor talked to the media. She has demanded that the minor infant Jaan be allowed his right to privacy and must not be splashed in the press to sensationalize the personal life of Aamir Khan.

This is not the first time that Bollywood marriages have raked up muck. From Dharmendra who married Hema Malini as his unlawful second wife and had two daughters; Rajesh Khanna who dumped Dimple Kapadia to live with his new love and Raj Babbar who ditched Nadira Babbar to ‘marry’ Smita Patil and have a son called Prateek Smith; from Kamalahaasan who betrayed Vani Ganapathy to have love babies with Sarika to Boney Kapoor who deserted wife Mona Shourie-Kapoor to live with and then marry Sridevi (who has two daughters by him) and Saif Ali Khan, who divorced Amrita Singh to declare his love for Rosa – Bollywood couples have always made news with their marital disasters. It is reported that when divorces take place in Bollywood, huge sums are given as settlements to the wife.

Usually, the men choose to break up the marriage and leave the children to the care of the wife. This has happened with Dimple Kapadia Khanna who brought up Twinkle and Rinke; Mona Boney Kapoor who is bringing up her two children; Sarika Kamalahaasan who is raising her two daughters; Amrita Saif Ali Khan Singh who has Ibrahim and Sara; Reena Aamir Khan who has two children – Ira and Junaid – in her care; and now Karishma Sanjay Kapur who has the infant Samaira in her custody! In each case, crores of rupees have changed hands when these errant husbands give their wives money to free themselves from the bonds of a disaster-stricken marriage. Now, it is reported that Karishma is also asking for Rs. 7 crores for giving Sanjay a divorce!
