Mallika Sherawat in ‘Guru’
Mumbai, Jan.22: Ashley Rebello, who designed the controversial diamond dress that was worn by Bollywood item girl Mallika Sherawat at a recent hotel performance in Mumbai, has rejected suggestions that the costume was vulgar.
Mallika wore a single piece skin colored jump suit with a bikini top that was studded with diamonds and a silver diamond belt during her hour-long 'Jewel 07' program held at hotel J W Marriot Hotel on New Year's eve.
"Actually, I don't understand what to say. If Mallika doesn't wear clothes, people say something and if she wears some thing, they say something. She was covered from the neck to toe. She was wearing a skin color full body suit, which has got two layers of fabric. No one could see any of her undergarments from inside through the body suit. I did not see it vulgar at all," said Ashley.
Ashley, who was sharing some make-up tips with students of Air Hostess Academy, alleged that the hullabaloo was caused by people having vested interests inimical to Sherawat and himself.
"They want publicity out of it and are going to forget. They are going to put the court case, which costs them rupees 3 lakh. Nobody is willing to put in such kind of money. So, she (Mallika) said why are we bothering about these people. They want to see Mallika and they want me to be there and that's why they are dong such things," alleged Ashley.
A social worker, Vinod Jain, had lodged a complaint before the Mumbai Police seeking action against Mallika for wearing 'obscene clothes' during her performance
Later, the Baroda Bar Association (BBA) President Narendra Tiwari had also filed a complaint in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate seeking action against Mallika and the owner of the hotel for holding an 'ugly' and a 'dirty' public program. (ANI)
