16 April 2007 (Sawf News) - The Abhi-Ash wedding lore is reaching its crescendo with just three more days left for the eagerly awaited event! Jaya Bachchan, trashing all rumors of a stand off between her and Ash, has given a special interview to Karan Johar on CNN-IBN in which she says, "I have always loved her. She is like our daughter Shweta coming home for Amitji and when she comes home, he lights up. She fills the vacuum that Shweta left behind. …She has fitted in so well in the family…she knows who are our good friends and is doing well."
Jaya is also recreating her own wedding in the Bengali style for her son! Jaya's mother Indira Bhaduri is in Kolkata, busy shopping for the bridal items needed for such a shaadi. According to reports in the TOI, she has bought the special Topor – the crown that a Bengali bridegroom wears – and the white shakha and red pola bangles which are auspicious for the bride. Indira has bought all the pooja items needed in the Bengali ceremony, which has been seen in several movies, including Ash's own mega movie Devdas. Gift sarees for extended family – called Pranami – have also been bought in addition to specially designed jewelry for the bahu.
Karan Johar chips in with his anchoring skills
Karan Johar, who has worked with the Bachchans in many films, is having fun choreographing special dances for Abhishek's friends for the Sangeet on 18th April. Sikander Kher, Goldie Behl, Chirag Doshi, Rohan Sippy and Apurva Lakhia will present 'boys' fun' at the function and recreate some of Karan's filmi dances with him as the anchor.
Though the Bachchans have requested secrecy and complete silence from all guests and event managers, some details have inevitably leaked out. Besides Bollywood style naach, Sandip Soparrkar will perform Latin dance routines and ask guests to join in for the Waltz and Rumba. Abhishek and Ash will perform a special Tango, which both are learning secretly. But other than these frivolous details, no 'inside news' is revealed because of the strict Big B moratorium on guests talking to the press. Z+ security has been ordered outside all venues to avoid fans or media persons gate-crashing in the events to get a dekko at the starry ensemble!
