13 July 2007 (Sawf News) - While the son of actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis has a formidable fan base across India and the Indian diaspora, Sanjay also enjoys popularity in Germany. A devoted Bollywood fan who follows our coverage of the industry and maintains her own Sanjay Dutt fan site, Ingrid Zellner of Dachau/Germany, passionately makes her case in favor of the Bollywood star, accused of terrorist acts.
Ingrid writes:
Amidst all his hassles - and all the false rumors spread about him again at the very moment - it might be a comfort for Sanjay Dutt to know that he is not alone and that millions of people all over the world are standing by him and praying for his emerging scot-free from his case - not because he is a star but because he is no terrorist and deserves to get back his life at last.
But Sanjay might not know that there is even a devoted fan community in Germany among his well-wishers. They have been praying for him in a special "Sanju pooja" every evening since October 2006 and they have decided not to stop doing so until he is free once and forever.
We don't do so just because Sanjay is our favorite film star. We read and searched everything about his case, we know the facts and like Judge Kode we believe in Sanjay's own confession which clearly states that he needed the weapon for self defense during the Mumbai riots
1992/93 as his family got threatening phone calls by fanatics who announced to rape Sanjay's sisters and burn the whole family. Everyone who damns Sanjay today should think for a moment how he himself would have acted as a responsible son and brother in such a horrible situation.
Sanjay has helped his father, late Sunil Dutt, helping the victims of the Mumbai riots. More than fourteen years of suffering were his reward. He doesn't deserve it. He is a warm and caring human being who always cares more for others than for himself. He may be an emotional fool who lets his heart reign over his head but that doesn't make him a criminal. He may have made his mistakes but he has paid dearly for them. And the way he accepted his fate again and again and carried on with unbroken strength and confident faith in God is just admirable.
Give Sanjay back his life - he deserves it!
(Never give up, Sanju. We're there with you.)

This diehard fan of the talented Sanju baba has, in the past, corrected us regarding our coverage of the star. She certainly makes a convincing argument in his defense. Were it her fighting at his trial, the verdict would surely be in his favor!
