16 September 2007 (Sawf News) - P&G with CRY and Sony launched the "Shiksha" initiative to help educate underprivileged children in 2005. The firm committed to contributing a minimum of Rs 1 crore every year to the project.
P&G India closed Shiksha 07 with the largest-ever contribution of Rs 2.27 crores to CRY at a special presentation ceremony on Friday, 14 Sep 2007.
Bollywood actors Sushmita Sen, a former Miss Universe (1994), and Konkana Sen Sharma were there to light up the occasion and give it the visibility that it deserved.
The two hotties chipped in with their own takes on the initiative
"A lot of children are studying in night schools in villages and are still trying to understand the concept of schools and education," said Shusmita.
"These young minds are the most brilliant one," she added perhaps unnecessarily sounding clairvoyant and a tad foolish.
We liked what Konkana Sen Sharma had to say, , "CRY and Procter and Gamble would have done a great job with or without celebrities."
