Bombay: 1 Feb 2005/Sawf News Service/ - Daughter of celebrity dancer Daksha Seth, Isha Sharvani – the dancing star of Kisna – has suddenly become a face with a future.
Isha Sharvani is the new star on the block. Born of an Australian father and the Indian dancing star Daksha Sheth, she is an expert at Kalariyapattu, the marshal art of Kerala. Isha says she was brought up in an ashram, far away from the frenetic glamour world of Mumbai. As the star of Subhash Ghai’s Kisna, she has scored a personal victory with her dancing and acting skill.
“I was brought up in my mother’s dance ashram near Trivandrum in Kerala,” says Isha, “I was trained in classical Indian dance and in Kalariyapattu, the marshal art of Kerala. These have been used in Kisna, which is my first film, made by Subhash Ghai. I love dancing and doing the film has been a great experience. I would love to perform before huge audiences of 30,000 people but I avoid discos because I do not enjoy this kind of dancing.” It is reported that Isha’s father is an Australian who became a Buddhist monk and then changed over to marry Daksha Seth, a prominent Kathak dancer who settled down in Kerala to learn the dance styles and marshal arts of that state. The film has opened to mixed reviews though Isha’s work and dancing prowess have been recognised.
