Hrithik Roshan in Krrish.
21 September 2007 (Sawf News) - Mumbai's Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria says the police will first look into deported Dawood Ibrahim henchman Iqbal Attarwala's involvement in land grabbing and has no immediate plans to question film stars over underworld match fixing.
"No communication has been sent to Hrithik Roshan or any other actor for questioning. Filmstars are our last priority," Maria told the press.
It was earlier reported that Mumbai Police, probing the nexus between the underworld, Bollywood and Indian cricket, may question leading Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan.
Iqbal Attarwala, who was deported from Dubai to Mumbai on 05 Sep 2007 has in the past organized cricket matches at Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Ziyad Cricket Stadium, ostensibly to raise money for charities.
The Mumbai police, which suspects Attarwala may have brokered deals between Dawood Ibrahim and prominent Bollywood personalities to play in these matches, had earlier said that film stars and cricket players who had performed in dance shows and exhibition matches organized by Attarwala in the Middle East will be questioned to ascertain if they were coerced by underworld.
Confirming that Hrithik's name did come up during the course of the investigations so far Maria said, "Hrithik was negotiating with one of the two intermediary event management companies that arranged for the stars for the shows, but did not perform as they had some differences over the price."
"We are right now probing the land grabbing aspect and his (Attarwala's) underworld contacts. During the initial interrogation, it has been revealed that Attarwala and his accomplices made money by land grabbing," Maria said.
