17 October 2007 (Sawf News) - A quintessential Indian beauty, Madhuri Dixit looks all of her 40-years in her western makeover in the recently released promos of Aaja Nachle. But when clad in a Lehanga Choli and adorned with dance jewelry the sparkle comes back in her eyes and sends hearts racing.

The decision to style Madhuri with layered shoulder length hair in brown color we think was unfortunate even if true to the story line of an NRI returning to her roots. Pulled back, her short hair accentuate her broad face which has lost its softness.

The skin is smooth but…botox smooth?

Similarly wearing jeans conforms to the story line and is safe because of her unflattering waistline but detracts from her Indian-ness which is what goes best with her face.

Tells us what you think about Madhuri's looks in the promo. Hit or Miss?

Madhuri may be 40, but she is still a stunner at 40. And this is something that can't be said about a lot of actors in Bollywood. Despite all the glamour in this business, aging is a natural phenomenon that many have succumbed to. Yet Madhuri Dixit has defied more or less the prominent signs of aging and can easily pass for a woman in her 30's.

Her western makeover accentuates her sharp graceful features and the brown layered hairdo complements her fair complexion. Where as smooth or no smooth skin is concerned, Botox is an undeniable reality in our Bollywood and with Aishwarya Rai and other male actors deeming it so vital to their lvies, Madhuri is no exception. And with or without the cut or the new wardrobe, let's not deny the gorgeous mother of two can still send a million hearts abalze, with that same million dollar smile that has made the nation go Dhak Dhak for over two decades. She is what they say about wine, that gets better with age. In the west, the definition of Beauty applies to most women who have crossed their forty's so why should we in India not embrace these stunning beauties who can dance better than the tiny petite plastics revealing much more than cleavage these days?

It was very disappointing to read your article, to be frank. Madhuri looks great in the promos and for someone who has done nearly 70 films, she has been through every look imaginable, so it was crucial to Aaja Nachle to reinvent her image. It was vital to show everyone a 'new' Madhuri Dixit, after all being a wife and mother of two has changed who she is as a person. We are so use to seeing the Indian Madhuri, with all the glamorous jewelery and clothes, and we still get to see that Aaja Nachle coupled with something new.

The article was disappointing because it brought to the forefront a very common perception of women the world over. If a woman looks great at 40, heaven forbid she be credited with exercise and healthy eating habits, instead the media and common stereotypes hail her as a product of Botox or cosmetic surgery. The fact that Madhuri looks good at 40 means that she has been adopting a healthy lifestyle, one that has been publicized since news of her comeback was first announced. Give her a break, she deserves it. Regardless of what people may think of her looks, she still looks beautiful and her beauty cannot be denied. Her new look also gives us an insight into her lifestyle in the west. She cannot be an in an indian outfit all the time.

THE PROMO IS A BIG HIT!!! And your article is a big disappointment. Seriously, I just cant believe anybody would be ever so unflattering. Madhuri Dixit, a force to reckon with, an actress par excellence returns with a musical aptly titled Aaja Nachle. The promos have created a shockwave, people are going ga-ga about the movie. Why? Because here comes an actress who is forty years old and doesnt shy away from the fact. She decided to comeback and is doing it with a lot of grace and elegance.

The look certainly gives us that impression. She knows what her age is and she's doing a movie keeping that fact very much in her mind. If we talk about the look, it certainly is a hit with all her fans. Madhuri Dixit is looking gorgeous and she's feeling great about it too! Personally, I feel that a woman shouldnt be judged on the basis of her appearance for that is rather coldblooded and smacks of the very hollowness of a world which is so enamoured of a polished appearance and demands that finesse almost always, thereby refusing to see underneath and discover the unvarnished truth.

Madhuri Dixit at 40 is a beautiful woman and every other actress would actually give her right hand to age that gracefully.

What a load of rubbish - I wanted to say something else here but I will keep it clean!

Whoever wrote this god-for-saken article clearly needs to get their eyes checked out!!!

At 39, Madhuri is looking gorgeous, in both her western look and especially in her Indian outfits (which you only credit her for). This woman is stunning through and through - the very essence of Indian beauty is epitomised by this woman alone.Bollywood minus Madhuri felt bleak, and I, along with MILLIONS applaud her comeback film where she isn't relying on a big male star to bring in the punters… Vis-à-vis say Kajol...Fanaa...Aamir Khan! Need I say more?!

Many actresses have tried and failed to imitate Madhuri but as Dixit has commented (when compared to Madhubala) “it’s always better to be an original than a copy”! The power of Dixit lies in the super stardom that she has achieved and even after a 5 year hiatus, still has! You don’t even get today’s actresses compared to their male counterparts. Why? Simply because they don’t make them like Madhuri no more!

Welcome back Madhuri – it’s been a while but judging by the promos, well worth the wait!

I could not have said it better than these three:

You said it all, and I totally agree with you. For me, Madhuri is a classic and graceful beauty, who will stay beautiful, no matter how old she gets. This is because her beauty shines from within. Even if she gets wrinkles or what not, it won't matter, her beauty will probably be enhanced as she's aging. Madhuri's beauty is similar to Hema Malini's beauty, who for me is still the Dreamgirl forever! These two women are my idols, and no amount of trash talk, which I think your article is, will succeed in bringing them down. If you're a beautiful woman who's still young, there's nothing to it. The real, classic beauty will not lose her beauty because of aging. The secret lies in her personality, I think, because if you're beautiful from within, your inner light will shine through. Of course you have to take care of yourself too, which you will do automatically if you love and appreciate yourself. Madhuri and Hema are both examples of women who love themselves and are not bothered by what other people think or say. I might as well add that the male examples of good-looking men who age very well are Salman Khan and Dharmendra! It's obvious that they are strong men who don't care what others have to say about them, as long as they feel good about themselves, and that's all that matters. This doesn't mean that they are arrogant people, on the contrary! Far from being arrogant, these people know the value of being humble. They have found the precious balance between humility and pride...

Savoera, 18 Oct 2007

Right on, Rupa, well said!

Savoera, 18 Oct 2007

Hey Please dont write such articles for the sake of writing.

I mean, look at her ( Madhuri Dixit).... from which angle does she look 40 ?

And even if it does..I dont care.... coz as they say 'the beauty lies in the eyes of beholder'....Dont start this kind of bloggy things so that people like us comment and u get some kind of importance.

Really very hurt by your so called analysis.

Look at her in Devdas and Hum tumhare hai sanam...I agree she looked 30+ in those moveis..but for heaven's sake...not in this.

She looks very young...and Thankgod...her jhatkas and matkas have not changed.

The efforts taken by her commendable...unlike Manisha Koirala or whoz that actress Ayesha Zhulka...Look at them....they have bloated and look so fed up with life.

Our Madhuri on the contrary is so inspirational. I think whoever you are, whoz written this crappy article must himself/herself reduce some weight....get fit and look at the brighter side of life.

Common you guys..its our madhuri and we got to rock with there!

Sabale, 19 Oct 2007

I think Madhuri looks amazing. She is a stunning beauty, by any standards. She doesn't look botoxed. (I agree Ash - and any one from Desparate Housewives here in the US - look a little too frozen). She just looks beautiful! I always found her look to be a contradiction. Her particular look is very elegant, not blank at all. It's always been a womanly beauty, not a child's beauty, even when she was a very young actress in the early nineties. Her makeover in the film makes her look like someone who has spent time overseas - which was the point right? Her face now shows more of the fabulous bone structure that many women would kill to have. Not a bad thing at all - just different. I am so happy to see her make a comeback. She is one of my all time favorite actresses and my favorite dancer period. She is incomparable.

i think some blind guy has written this article....u're talking abouyt the MOST BEAUTIFUL INDIAN WOMEN EVER.....even if she turns 400 she would look the most gorgeous lady......i know y hav u written dis? ....becoz everywhere nowadays r discusions over madhuri's stuning new look in the movie so u want to get some attention thats y rather than writing the truth u're trying to say something different n gets some importance.......n i think somewhere u hav succedded in ur efforts ........but dis crap article would not make a difference....she is looking breathtakingly beautiful in AN ......i think u got enough importance......happy now ? but plz ....go n get ur eyes checke

mohit sharma, 23 Oct 2007

Actually Madhuri looks gorgeous in both western and Indian looks.

Are you blind? Madhuri is versatile - this means that she looks beautiful in every attire that she may adopt for any role or any movie, and in real-life! She has the most beautiful smile, her eyes are enchanting and her hair looks very sexy! She is the only Bollywood actress who is beautiful, sexy and classy!

And as for her age, she looks young and fresh! No wrinkles and no sign of botox! She looks graceful and she looks half her age! She looks like a real woman. Her eyebrows are to die or and one thing which nobody can argue with, is the beauty of her voice. I love the way she speaks Hindi, her voice is so unique - the best of all actresses. There is something very special about her voice. She has charisma - the 'X FACTOR'! I believe that she is the idol for all Bollywood actresses today. My mum adores her and my mum always has the best of taste when it comes to looks! Madhuri has never tried to be something that she isn't. Most actresses these days are so westernised and to be honest they look crap!

And to add, Madhuri is the ONLY actress that also looks stunning without any make-up. She is what you call a NATURAL BEAUTY!!!!!!!!!!

As you can see, I can go on and on about Madhuri and her everlasting beauty.

So don't hate on her just coz she is beautiful!!!!!!!!

Hanna Khan, 25 Oct 2007

I agree Totally!!

Madhuri is the ultimate!

I think its way beyond time people started recognising that Madhuri is the best Bollywood has ever had and most certainly the best it will ever have!!

Nobody can compare wiv her looks and the way she shakes it!!!

SABRINA, 25 Oct 2007

Madhuri is a natural beauty, she doesn't need botox or stuff like that.

Have you ever heard of make-up-artists, who are on each and every set?

It's their job to make the actors or actresses look good, that's a normal thing.

Madhuri's been on so many events during her Aaja-Nachle-shot and she looked on all the photos so natural and had some cute crinkles. She is a beautiful and natural woman who just doesn't appear like 40.

Of course there must be people who get jealous, why didn't I calculate that?

But this article is much more than that. Those arguments are ridiculous and cheap.

You complain about Madhu, because she wears jeans and her hair is shorter? What an absurd way of thinking! You write, that it fits to the plot and yet you complain, that she's not appearing like a real indian woman.

You are contradictory and this article is just one, huge provocation for all the people who like Madhuri.

I mean, who else would start to hang up on things like jeans and shorter hair?
