The hurt was writ large on his face during his back to back appearances on TV over the weekend to promote his forthcoming film with Kareena Kapoor 'Jab We Met' but until recently Shahid Kapoor had maintained a stoic silence on the breakup.

22 October 2007 (Sawf News) - The hurt was writ large on his face during his back to back appearances on TV over the weekend to promote his forthcoming film with Kareena Kapoor Jab We Met but until recently Shahid Kapoor had maintained a stoic silence on the breakup.

Appearing on ‘Amul Star Voice of India’ Friday, October 19, he did smile but his face never lit up. The boyish grin charmed onlookers as usual but also pained them that day.

His appearance with Kareena Kapoor on ‘Nach Baliye’ Saturday, October 20, must have been tough for him as well as Kareena. If nothing else it showed the professionalism of the former couple, besides illustrating just how far apart two young people can be while standing so close to each other.

It was time for Shahid to speak about his pain and we are glad he did.

"It will be dishonest to say that this doesn't affect me. I am human, it hurts to see and read this all the time. I guess I have no choice but to live and deal with it," he told TOI

The actor in him still wants Jab We Met to succeed and his onscreen romance with Kareena to charm audiences.

In the days ahead Shahid wants to focus on his work.

"I hold nothing against anybody, if I do, it will pull me down, and I'm not like that. I'll cherish the good memories of that relationship and move on. That's what I'm doing - looking at the positive side and trying to be happy."

Shahid is reluctant to go into the reasons for the split and responds with dignity and poise when questioned about it.

"But it is below Bebo's dignity and mine to talk about all this now. I wish her all the happiness in the world. I have great respect for her. She's a wonderful girl."
