17 December 2007 (Sawf News) - Bollywood actor John Abraham, who turns 35 today, avoids loud birthday bashes and prefers to spend the day quietly with his parents and brother relishing the plum cake that his mother bakes for him.

John was however touched by the birthday felicitation that he received from 200 visually impaired children at the Happy Home and School for the Blind in Worli, Friday, December 14.

"The children cut a cake for him and sang Happy Birthday. John was so moved that he had tears in his eyes," a source close to John told Mid-day.

Besides singing "Happy Birthday…" for John the children presented him a birthday card in Braille and read it out for him.

A visibly moved John said, "It was my most special birthday. These children are more self-sufficient and independent than us."

John, who is the brand ambassador for Fast Track eye wear, gifted each of the children specially designed glasses on the occasion.

Professionally, the year 2007 hasn't been good for John. All three of his films, Salaam-E-Ishq, No Smoking and Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal failed to rouse the box office.

However, John has no regrets.

"Life goes on and I am thankful to God for where I am today. Though I am happy with what I have achieved, I still have a long way," he admits candidly.

"I am happy with Goal The kids enjoyed it and that's my audience. It's important to do films that make them happy," he adds.

Not surprisingly, what John wishes for in the year 2008 is more professional success.

"I want three brilliant films that are meaningful, fun and unpretentious," he says.

His wish could come true because despite the poor showing of his films at the box office this year he continues to be a favorite with producers known for making good films.

His future projects include Nagesh Kukunoor's Aashayein, Ashtavinayak next opposite Kareena Kapoor, Rohan Sippy's next to be directed by Sriram Raghavan opposite Aishwarya, Deepa Mehta's Luna also starring Rachel Weisz, Dustin Hoffman and Chris Cooper and Karan Johar's next starring Priyanka Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan.
