Crossover romances between sports and Bollywood celebrities appear to be in vogue. After Deepika Padukone and Yuvraj Singh we now have reports of Shahid Kapoor and Sania Mirza warming up to each other.
When Shahid was first linked to Sania, after the two were spotted together at Bangalore's Windsor Sheraton, the news was received with due circumspection.
Ironically it was Vidya Balan who was most delighted by the spotting because while the hapless girl has been shouting herself hoarse claiming she is single and 'very much' ready to mingle but tabloids continued to insist she and Shahid Kapoor were an item.
The initial Shahid and Sania spotting failed to create a buzz, perhaps because a lot of skeptics attributed it to happenstance.
Shahid and Sania were spotted together for a second time on Sunday at a suburban five-star hotel in Mumbai.
After his opening gig at the Star Gold's Idea Sabsey Favorite Kaun 2008 awards, Sunday, December 23, 2007, Taj Lands End, Shahid headed straight for his rendezvous with Sania.
"Shahid and Sania very much looked like a couple. They were completely engrossed in each other, and were oblivious of what was happening around them," an eyewitness told Mumbai Mirror.
A close friend of Shahid confirmed what the eyewitness had to say.
"Yes, Shahid did spend time with Sania on Sunday. They have been bonding very well with each other," the friend said.
We are betting that Vidya Balan will now sleep even better than she has been sleeping after the first Shahid - Sania spotting.
What we are worried about is that any Bollywood hunk who gets linked to Vidya soon moves on to a steady relationship with another girl. It happened with Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham and now Shahid Kapoor.
