Here is how a source described the incident to the Mumbai tabloid Mid-Day.
"They were chatting when suddenly the argument got heated. Salman got up and slapped his girlfriend across her left cheek. It wasn't a hard slap but it made a cracking sound, leaving the actress and the onlookers stunned in shocked silence. Instead of making a scene, she quietly got up and walked out, without uttering a word."
A staffer at the Barrista corroborated the eyewitness account telling Mid Day that usually Salman, a regular visitor, is well behaved.
"This was the first time and frankly, we are all shocked by his behavior," he acknowledged.
Katrina has denied the incident terming it "rubbish."
Intriguingly the sensational report, about an incident that occurred over a week ago, has appeared in Mid Day on the same day that its competing tabloid Mumbai Mirror has carried an equally dubious report about Saif's wedding to Kareena.
But then, Salman is known to be temperamental and his past record includes violence and transgression of the law.

i think that salman khan will never slap/hit katrina kaif because he loves her so much.the only reason salman will hit katrina will be if she said something and got him upset.

If this would have happened in any of the South Indian States including Kerala, Tamilnadu, Andhra or Karnataka, Salman would have gone in crutches. We men would not allow a woman to be hit in public. We are not that cheap like the idiot Salman Khan. We dare Salman Khan to do the same in any of the South Indian States. Well the on lookers in North.. well I am not interested to talk about them.

Why in the name of God couldn't they leave this guy alone, whatever happened in his past doesn't have to referred to every time he has an issue with whomever he dates/ed. Nobody knew what really transpired with the actress he dated before only rumours and make believe made it real. Now about his relationship with Katrina, they're now trying to ruin them with all this dreadful rumours again. Can't He for once have a normal life without you people barging in? And don't you ever feel ashamed of always referring to him as Bollywood's bad boy? Please, you people should get a life!
Apparently this Suresh guy who emailed, is sure a Salman hater as if he's never had an argument or a fight with his woman too. Talk about a cheap person. You should look at yourself before you start calling people names.
