Prithviraj Kapoor in Mughal-e-Azam as Akbar

Bombay: 11 Feb 2005/Sawf News Service/ - Ashutosh Gowarikar, after his Swades has touched the hearts of millions of Indians, has announced his next film on the love story of Mughal Emperor Akbar and his Rajput Queen Jodhabai. “This is a neglected love story of Indian history,” says the director, “I will choose a big star to play Akbar and Jodhabai will be played by a newcomer. I will do screen tests for this role on a big scale. In Mughal-e-Azam, Akbar tries to stop the romance of Saleem and Anarkali. People should be curious about Akbar’s own romance with a Hindu princess!”
