June 10, 2008 (Sawf News) - UTV is planning to produce a film top lining Aishwarya Rai as former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, for which writer Neelesh Misra (Alibaug) has been asked to pen a script.
According to Zee, the producers are in talks with the Bhutto family and the PPP government in Pakistan.
Misra told reporters recently that he has been offered the project but has yet to take up the offer.
The box office potential of such a film would be immense. Benazir was popular not just in Pakistan but also in India. Similarly, Aishwarya has a significant fan base in Pakistan, which includes Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani!
With India and Pakistan warming up to the idea of watching films made by each other, and pooling resources in the entertainment industry, the UTV film is likely to have many backers.
