June 27, 2008 (Sawf News) - Amitabh Bachchan has rubbished a recent press report that Abhishek Bachchan slapped a spot boy on the set of his film Drona, causing the spot boy to leave his job. Describing the report as "entirely malicious," Amitabh said, "Abhishek does not have the ability to strike a fly."
"He does have the ability though to attract incongruous and totally incorrect press," the 65-year-old actor laments in a post on his blog. "There has been absolutely no such incident on set. It is a fabrication of the highest order."
Bachchan goes on to allude to a conspiracy to malign him and his family:
"We are aware that certain media and journalists who have painstakingly taken it upon themselves to build animosity towards us and follow religiously a common utterly unprofessional bias, will never change. Fair enough. Their colors were never just. Their comments even through our most acknowledged moments shall reek of deliberate abuse. They are not the fourth estate or fifth or even the sixth or seventh. They are in no state at all. But that they shall stoop to such unscrupulous deed needs mention."
Interestingly, Bachchan, who is often unfairly slammed by Mumbai tabloids, has expressed his faith in the Internet, despite advice to the contrary from friends and supporters who say the medium is insignificant and devoid of checks and balances.
He has recently taken to blogging and the passion with which he writes and the lucidity of his posts have made his detractors squirm. The credibility challenged Mumbai tabloids are beginning to feel the heat through his ability to communicate directly with his friends and detractors through the blog.
"I believe the majority of my readers is large and strong enough to make impression," Bachchan says in his post. "I believe they have a voice and a presence. I believe they have belief in my honesty. I believe that this community has the power to grow into a force of great value. I believe the internet is the future and that its importance shall receive recognition. I believe that the community has the capacity to bring change. And I believe that change is imminent."
