October 16, 2008, (Sawf News) - Subhash Ghai's Yuvvraaj which headlines Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif faces a delay following the sacking of the film's editor by Ghai, who was disappointed with the first cut of the film.
Ghai has roped in Deepa Bhatia (Taare Zameen Par (2007) and Rock On (2008)), to do the final edit of the film. Deepa is incidentally the wife of Amole Gupte who was sacked by Aamir Khan as director of Taare Zameen Par.
The music of Yuvvraaj, which additionally stars Mithun Chakraborty, Boman Irani and Zayed Khan, will be launched on Thursday, October 16, at the Grand Hyatt, Kalina, Mumbai.
Ghai edited the last two films that he directed, Kisna and Black & White, both of which received critical acclaim but were box office duds.
"Yuvvraaj is Ghai's most ambitious and costliest films to date and he wants to play safe by sharing the responsibility of editing the film with another professional editor," a source close to the filmmaker reveals.
"The film's announced release date, November 21, is fast approaching but a whole lot of post production work, including DI and coloring, is yet to be completed. This was the editor's responsibility. Ghai, therefore, got rid of the editor and roped in Deepa Bhatia as a replacement.
"It is possible that a change in the editor at this late stage may delay the release of the film, but Salman is happy with the change. He hasn't had a hit this year and is banking on the success of Yuvvraaj, which pairs him and Katrina as the romantic lead."
When contacted, Ghai told Sawf News, "Deepa has been roped in as a consulting editor and we are hopeful to release the film on the announced date itself."
