Mumbai: Sawf News Service/ -- The Indian media is presently goggle-eyed with a new phenomenon – that of small children attending the second or third weddings of their parents. Mind you, this largely applies to fathers only! Mothers in Bollywood (with small children) – seem to rarely (or not at all?) – choose to opt for second or third marriages. In the recent past, there have been several such cases. Superstar of the south, Kamala Hasan chose to romance with many younger stars while his second wife Saarika watched with more a more frustration. Finally, with two young daughters, she left Chennai and came back to the city of her film career, Mumbai. She has chosen to be an actress once again and look after her children rather than marry again. So also, Aamir Khan’s first wife, Reena, has opted to live as a single mother with two children rather than have a romantic interest in her life. Amrita Singh, recently divorced from Saif Ali Khan, has publicly said that she will never marry again. Amol Palekar’s wife Deepa has also chosen to live with her daughter while Amol (whose directorial effort Paheli is India’s entry to the Oscars this year) has married again.
New family norms for divorced Bollywood stars
Earlier, in several star divorce cases, mothers who had the custody of the children, hardly ever encouraged the children to spend more time with their father than was decreed by the court!
But the latest news on this front is that divorced filmi couples are so considerate and friendly towards each other that the mother not only arranges for the children to meet the estranged husband often, but she also encourages them to attend the second wedding of their father or allows them to go out with their father and his latest love. Aamir and his ladylove Kiran Rao have invited the actor’s children by his first wife Reena – Junaid and Aira – to their wedding celebrations in the hill resort of Panchgani near Mumbai. Saif Ali Khan and his ladylove Rosa, are seen taking his children Ibrahim and Sara to several public functions. They recently accompanied Saif and Rosa to Zayed Khan and Fardeen Khan’s weddings extravaganzas during Nov-Dec 05!
