It is not that Balan doesn't like cats, she is petrified of them! Any time she sees one she "drives the unit crazy," says a source. The trouble is she won't allow unit members to scare away a trespassing cat for good by hurling stones at it. That is too extreme for Balan.
"Why don't you just shoo it away," Vidya remonstrates with unit members, confounding them as women have confounded men for centuries while conveying just what is it that they want.
Vidya was recently in Mumbai for a day, and we don't think she was running away from a cat in Wai, because Mumbai has more cats than the rest of the country combined, and the human variety to boot!
Anyway, it was an opportunity for the press to catch up with the talented actress and get to know more about her role in Ishqiya.
"It is a different character from the kind of characters I have been portraying so far," Vidya told CNN-IBN. "But in every film I have tried to do something different so I think this is in keeping with that."
Ishqia, is produced by Vishal Bharadwaj and head lines Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi and Vidya Balan.
It revolves around three romantic personalities played by Warsi, Balan and Shah.
Balan plays a scheming woman who is two-timing the uncle (Shah) and nephew (Warsi).
