April 13, 2009, (Sawf News) - Jaya Bachchan, Ayesha Takia, Raveena Tandon and Uravashi Sharma attended the launch of Revathy S Verma helmed and Dilip Shukla penned drama Chaassni.
They feature in the cast of the film along with Suniel Shetty and R. Madhavan both of whom were absent from the press event on April 9 at Suchak Bungalow at Madh Island, Mumbai.

Filming was brought forward by a month to coincide with Jaya's 61st birthday on April 10.
The film, a remake of a critically acclaimed South film June R (2005), starring Jyothika, Khushboo, Sarita and Surya, has Jaya as the central character. The story is about a woman who fights against every wrong in the system, society and the country.

Revathy approached Jaya, a Member of Parliament belonging to the Samajwadi Janata Party (SJP), and convinced her that only she could play what Revathy believed was "the role of a lifetime for any actress anywhere”.
Jaya agreed to act in the film at a time when her party needs her desperately as its star campaigner in the upcoming parliamentary elections, after convincing her senior party leaders to let her take on the challenge.
Chaassni is produced by Preya Arora under Hari Om Sai Productions banner. Kabir Lal is the cinematographer.
