May 14, 2009, (Sawf News) - Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is reportedly in talks with Sony Pictures to produce a Bollywood remake of the 1998 comedy drama, Stepmom, headlining Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon.
In Stepmom a terminally-ill mother (Susan Sarandon) overcomes her initial reservations and accepts the new woman (Julia Roberts) in her ex-husband's life and helps her to become a fabulous stepmother for her two children.
The Bollywood remake, to be helmed by debutant Siddharth Malhotra, will headline Kajol and Kareena Kapoor.
Siddharth Malhotra is currently assisting Karan Johar in directing Dharma Production’s My Name Is Khan starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.
Production of the Stepmom remake will start as soon as Kajol and Kareena wrap up their current projects.
Kareena is currently filming for Renzel D’Silva's Jihaad with co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Dia Mirza, Kiron Kher and Om Puri.
