May 18, 2009, (Sawf News) - On his return from Bollywood stalwart Prakash Mehra’s funeral Amitabh Bachchan took to his blog to lay into the media for its disgusting conduct at the remorseful event.
Abhishek and I attended it, but the behavior of the electronic media at the crematorium was just disgusting. No respect shown for the sensitivity of the occasion. No regard for the moment and no ethics at all in maintaining some decorum for this very private and somber ritual. All they were interested in was in getting that ‘bite’ or shoving their cameras inches away from your nose, at a moment when one desired peace and quiet. Shameful. But what of some of the mourners, if they can be called that ! They were no less. Pushing and shoving to get a position behind or near about the celebrity, so the cameras can catch them.
I shall not dwell on this anymore ; I may just burst a blood vessel.
Mehra was responsible for giving Amitabh Bachchan, whom Mehra called 'Lulla' with affection, the Angry-Young-Man image beginning with Zanjeer (1973) and the saga lasted for seven blockbuster hits which included Hera Pheri (1976), Khoon Paseena (1977), Muqaddar Ka Sikander (1978), Laawaris (1981), Namak Halaal (1982) and Sharaabi (1984). Jaadugar (1989) was the only film that was not a success.
