November 17, 2009, (Sawf News) - Farah Khan's first home production and third directorial venture, Tees Maar Khan, will headline Akshay Kumar.
Farah's husband, Shirish Kunder, has penned the script and will also co-produce the film with Akshay's Hari Om Productions. Filming will begin in March 2010.
Farah says the film's title means 'smart ass.' A hunt is on to find a new face to play female lead.
Akshay Kumar featured in Shirish Kunder's directorial debut, Jaan-E-Mann (2006). Shirish says he wrote Tees Maar Khan script keeping Akshay in mind.
Farah's past two films headlined Shah Rukh Khan and she is currently in the middle of scripting a third film with the actor, titled Happy New Year.
Farah doesn't think her dropping a Khan project to take up professional rival Kumar's film will ruffle any feathers.
She decided to move on to the new project because the Happy New Year script wasn't ready and she loved the Tees Maar Khan script which "is my kind of film and has everything in it — action, comedy and full masala. It's like a ready made script for me."
She says Khan is "very happy for me and our production house and has offered every kind of help that I might need while doing the film."
Farah was recently reported to be upset with Shah Rukh when he unceremoniously replaced Shirish as the director of his production Zoya Factor without informing him. Khan and Kunder had serious disagreements over the screenplay and the script of the film.
