December 03, 2009, (Sawf News) - The dismal box-office performance of Kurbaan has rattled financiers of Saif Ali Khan production's spy thriller, Agent Vinod, starring Saif and Kareena Kapoor.
As a result, the film's budget has been reduced from Rs 65 crore to Rs 40 crore.
Saif and Kareena's earlier two films together - Tashan (2008) and Roadside Romeo (2008) - were also box-officer failures.
Helmer Sriram Raghvan says foreign locales and expensive action sequences in the film can not be downsized.
"I can't downsize my script. There are a lot of foreign locales and action in the film. So, it's definitely a high budget film," Raghvan told TOI.
Kareena Kapoor and Saif are not romantically paired in the film. Kareena is reported to play an action girl who works for evil guys out to make big money from a war-like scenario in the Asian subcontinent.
Saif is an under-cover agent after these corporate honchos but first he must crack Kareena's character if she is truly a gangster's moll or a victim of circumstances.
The filming will begin production in February 2010.
