Preity Zinta at Veer-Zaara premier Preity Zinta turned 31 on Jan 31. Speaking about the occasion, the actress reportedly remarked that it felt like another birthday to her though she is happy to be financially and emotionally independent. She added that she had been too busy to plan her birthday party but will have one over the weekend since it will be more convenient for her and the guests on her list. She said it is after many years that she is in India on her birthday but none of her family is here to attend the birthday party.
The bubbly actress has carved herself a place at the top in Bollywood with recent hits like Yash Chopra's Veer-Zaara and Siddharth Anand's Salaam Namastey. She has bagged many awards for these films. Zinta picks her roles carefully and acts in a limited number of films every year in order to ensure the quality of her performances.
Zinta says she is excited about Karan Johar's Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, due for release in July 2006, because her role in the film is different from all other films she has done till date. The full cast of the film includes Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukhrjee. She will also be seen in Shirish Kunder's Janeman this year.
Preity Zinta entered films as an outsider but hard work and innate talent have made the dimpled actress the darling of Indian cinema in a relatively short span of time. Her debut performance in Dil Se, with co-stars Shah Rukh Khan and Manisha Koirala, was creditable and elicited ready acceptance by the Indian film industry.
Zinta is known to be bold and have a mind of her own. People across the nation applauded the gutsy actress girl from Himachal when she appeared in court to testify against the Dubai-based mafia that was extorting protection money from Bollywood film stars. She also butted heads with the media when she filed a defamation case against a Mumbai newspaper for publishing a story based on the text of a phone conversation in which film star Salman Khan apparently referred to his relationship with the actress.
Preity is reported to be dating Industrialist Ness Wadia but she likes to keep her personal life private.
